MEET SARAH BIGGERS-STEWART,
the brain and brawn behind CLOVE + HALLOW: freelance makeup artist, personal proponent of clean living, and loyal lover of a bright red lip.

Hi!
It’s Sarah Biggers-Stewart, Founder and CEO of CLOVE + HALLOW.
Years ago, I was working as a makeup artist when I suddenly came down with a mystery illness that left me bedridden for six months. I experienced lightheadedness, vertigo, and short-term memory loss, and couldn’t stay awake for longer than a four-hour stretch. Worst of all, I was suffering with severe depression and debilitating panic attacks.
When traditional doctors struggled to give me answers, I went down a path I had never before considered: holistic medicine. Following my holistic doctor’s recommendation for a complete lifestyle overhaul, I made what can only be described as a miraculous recovery—and was back at work within 30 days!
That’s when I developed a passion for holistic wellness and became determined to weave clean beauty into my professional kit. Plus, as a working makeup artist I felt I had even more skin in the game because putting products on people’s faces was my job, and my friends, family, and clients frequently purchased the products I used.
Honestly, I never intended to make my own line of makeup. But when I realized existing clean beauty products required recalibrating expectations — everything was too sheer, too limited in shades, too expensive, and dare I say, a little...boring? — the mission to create Beauty Without Sacrifice became clear.
I knew I could do better by creating a clean, cruelty-free and vegan cosmetics line of my own: a line that looks and feels high-end but doesn’t break the bank; a line with vibrant and inclusive shades; a line with thoughtful, minimalist formulas that pack a punch; and, most important to me, a line that makes women feel like the badasses that we are—and leaves the world a better place, too.
Just like that, CLOVE + HALLOW was born... and I’ve never looked back.

With CLOVE + HALLOW, I knew I could fill an important void in the market and change the perception that clean cosmetics can’t compete with their conventional counterparts. Running a product-based business comes with many challenges, but each day that I am able to empower women with access to safer, better beauty products is a good one in my book.
